Dealing with an evil step mom…..?
I have a 9 year old daughter who I share custody of with her father. He is married to a woman who is hot headed, manipulative, and controlling. I believe my daughter walks around on eggshells when she is on visits at their house. Recently she heard her step mom tell her dad that they only fight when she (my daughter) is there. This woman is crazy!! One day she is taking her to get her nails painted and then the next she is blowing up at her in the bathroom for cringing because she can feel the heat of the hot roller or curling iron close to her ear. My daughter has came home on more than one occasion in tears because of something her step mom has said or did. There have also been times when she did not want to go at all. At what age does the child get to choose whether or not they go on these visits?

At my daughters last birthday party (which was held on his weekend) she came over to me and said she didn’t want to go home with her dad and step mom. I told her she was talking to the wrong person. She then went over to her dad and told him. Ultimately it became step moms decision. She was already mad that my daughter didn’t want to go home with them and would have been even more mad if he would have let her stay. I guess we know who wears the pants in that house. I need advice. I have talked to her dad, but it doesn’t seem to get me anywhere other than more frustrated. Please Help!!

Half of this is your daughter pulling your heartstrings. She feels guilty when she is there because to have a good time is to betray you.

You explain to the stepmomster that you understand girls her age are all drama. You then state that you will be watching her trips very closely from now on because she has said so much that you don’t believe you want to verify her stories.

Do it the right way and you will scare her into being better to your daughter.

Tell your X husband that you don’t want your daughter to be around this mean step mom. Try your best to me you daughter away from her. When you daughter is older i think she gets to choose if she visits or who she wants to stay with, I think that’s around when they are 11 or 12. Also tell your X husbands step mom how you feel! Depends, how many people are coming?

I haven’t bought a 25 pounder since I’ve had about 20 people over.

Most cases, for 10 and under, a 15 or 16 pound bird will suffice.

I personally would avoid a 25 pounder because in my experience they are difficult to handle because they’re so big and heavy, they are hard to cook evenly and generally the breast is desert dry before the thigh meat is thoroughly cooked.

I’m with you on the leftovers, I always go bigger than needed because we love the leftovers too.

A 25 lb turkey is much too big and heavy to handle. If you are having alot of people, maybe two smaller turkeys made in 2 different ways would be better. If they are good, there won’t be left overs.

You don’t say how big your big family is, but a 25 pound turkey is super big, and should be plenty. I like the idea of cooking the main bird in the oven, then also put a turkey breast (about 9 or 10 pounds) in a crock pot. That way there are turkey leftovers for sandwiches and meals after the main turkey is eaten, since leftovers are almost as much fun as the regular meal!

I really want to watch this movie again. But I forgot what it was.
I saw it on Disney once. It was about 2 girls, I think they were blond (I haven’t seen it in a while).
One was rich and the other one was poor.
They looked alike (except one had glasses, there was this one scene where they thought they were looking at a mirror but it wasn’t really a mirror, it was each other, but one of them had their glasses off and they didn’t notice).
