Why is it that everyone wants to be a lawyer or a doctor?
Personally, I think the reason is that doctors and lawyers have status,power and money. Think about it doctors/lawyers can afford to have several big homes and drive bentley’s,massarati’s and other luxurious cars. Everyone respects them and they are very credible in any courtroom. Unlike being a customer service rep at best buy or circuit city. Or having a gig earning wages. People who are physicians and lawyers send their kids to the best private schools that money can buy. Because of their accomplishments this only increases the likelihood that their offspring will also become successful lawyers or doctors or important figures in the community, that count.

but seriously, I’ll become a lawyer because I don’t want to enter the workforce at 22 years old. Law school is a very general area of study and a lot of law school grads won’t find the jobs they want until a year or two after graduation. Though a lot can, I really don’t plan on making any money at law. And really, lawyers don’t have THAT much prestige. As far as physicians, it really depends on your field. A neurosurgeon (brain doctor) has much more prestige than a podiatrist (foot doctor). It’s all relative.
But I suppose that they all look prestigious if you are working at best buy, don’t they?

Of course it is about the money, but its also because they may want to make a difference in society. I want to be a doctor because I want to be someone in my life.. something that many people couldn’t fathom themselves being.
